At Say-So Speech Therapy we provide in-home, in-office and virtual therapy for individuals of all ages who present with speech, language, feeding/swallowing, or cognitive difficulties. We are currently serving Bergen county and surrounding areas.
Carolyn founded Say-So Speech Therapy in September 2022 after working for seven years at a private multi-disciplinary pediatric therapy clinic.
Carolyn is licensed by the State of New Jersey and certified by the New Jersey Department of Education as a Speech-Language Specialist and is certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
She has experience working in clinical, inpatient, outpatient and educational setting and has provided therapy to children of all ages with hearing impairment, autism, cerebral palsy, apraxia, selective mutism, dysarthria, feeding disorders, social/pragmatic difficulties and various cognitive deficits and syndromes. Carolyn has also provided therapy to adults with receptive and expressive aphasia, apraxia, dementia, dysphagia, traumatic brain injury, voice disorders, hearing loss and various cognitive and neurological impairments.
Carolyn has been trained in the use of oral-motor exercises to treat muscle weakness, tongue thrust swallows, drooling, articulation disorders and lisps. She has experience using the Integral Stimulation treatment approach for children with apraxia of speech, which emphasizes the cognitive-motor programming necessary for speech production, as well as The Kaufman Speech to Language treatment approach, which focuses on shaping word approximations and use of cueing systems.
She has attended workshops on the Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based (DIR/ Floortime) model to treat selective mutism, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding and Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking program for the treatment of pragmatic language disorders. Carolyn also has experience in school systems, participating as part of Child Study Teams in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and working collaboratively to assess and develop therapy goals specific to each student.
Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Seton Hall University and her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Kean University.
She is currently in training to utilize technological treatment approaches, including Photobiomodulation (Red Light Therapy) and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) to further help patients achieve their goals.
Say-So Speech Therapy is focused on delivering the best quality of care for our patients and their families by providing research-based therapeutic techniques in the comfort of their own homes and via telehealth platforms. Say-So Speech Therapy’s philosophy is to provide personalized services using a family-centered approach that involves continual parent training to ensure the most successful results in the patient’s natural environment.
